This is more of a public service announcement or part of a pro-literacy campaign at the local library... I think it gets the point across quite well.

My emphasis is the book itself. I didn't want the text to compete with the book's image. So I used a readable, but subdued blue for the text.

Of course the fact that the models are my granddaughter and myself is merely coincidental... ;)

It's a lovely scene!! Here some critique that IMO would make it look even better: try going for some Sepia-color, definitely monocromatic, but not cold as in b&w. and I'd choose the fontsize much, much smaller, and on the lower right corner. This way, people are struck by the image, read the lines and get struck again. :)

Sounds painful... all of those multiple strikings with the image! ;)

Because of the high contrast, the image is almost monochromatic as it stands. Except for that delightful splash of color that are the pages of the book! :)

But I may play around with your ideas a bit. If I do, I'll let you know where the results are posted. :shamrock:

Hehe, I'm really sorry that I wrote too few complimentary lines, but I was really left in awe of words! :-)

I'll look forward to seeing a variation of the deviation if you get the chance! :) Thanks!

Great message! Kids today definitely need to spend more time with books and educational activities, and alot less time with thier DVD's and Playstations.

And the responsibiltiy falls in the lap of their parents. Children who are read to from an early age, read. That means reading to yourr child as soon as they are able to sit up and look at the pictures in a picture book.

If they don't get this type of encouragement at home, their teachers won't be able to help them much once they reach school age! :shamrock:
